This is when you are given medication to put you to sleep during a procedure or operation. The anesthetic medications are injected into a vein or given to you to breathe in through a face mask. You will be completely unaware of what is going on while you are asleep, and you will be monitored closely by the anesthetic team throughout. You will wake up when the medications are stopped.
